CHA Middle School music students hit a high note on Saturday, May 9, delivering a series of stellar performances that culminated in a victory at the Music in the Parks Festival held at Great America in Gurnee, Illinois.
The students’ dedication and months of practice were clearly visible to the judges, resulting in an impressive sweep of awards for our program:
- Symphonic Band: Earned 1st Place in their division and the Best Overall Band award.
- Middle School Choir: Earned 1st Place in their division.
Directors Sarah Lee and Wesley Mosby expressed immense pride in the students' hard work, noting that the feedback received from outside adjudicators is a vital tool for the program's growth. "We are grateful for the opportunity to receive professional feedback and look forward to implementing those lessons in our upcoming rehearsals," Mosby said.
This experience could not have been possible without the help of a dedicated community. The directors thank the parents who served as chaperones, giving their time to ensure a safe and fun experience for the students, as well as to Jantzen Loza for capturing the spirit of the trip through photography.
As the school year draws to a close, there are two final opportunities to hear CHA's award-winning Middle School musicians:
- June 4: The Middle School Choir will perform during the All Praise Chapel.
- June 5: Both the Middle School Band and Middle School Choir will perform at the 8th Grade Graduation.
